“Are we sure is enough?” This question arrives only after the sensors have been calibrated and the traceability certificates have been printed. In the world of electronic record keeping, there is always someone who waits until the software is installed on the server to ask about “data integrity gaps.” They don’t have a specific gap in mind; they just want it recorded that they were “skeptical” of the cloud-based handshake. If the system is hacked, they are a genius. If it isn’t, they are just a “cautious professional.” It is the ultimate low-risk, high-reward reputational bet.

The Environmental Edge Case

This is my personal favorite. “I see the device is rated for , but what if the technician leaves it in the steam manifold during a manual override? Shouldn’t we have specified a housing that can handle ?”

This is like complaining that a submarine isn’t rated for the vacuum of space. It’s a technical truth wrapped in a practical absurdity, delivered exactly when it’s too late to change the specification.

“I was reading a draft guidance from the FDA last night, and I’m worried our documentation won’t satisfy a strict auditor.” This is the trump card. It’s the “nuclear option” of late-stage objections because it touches on the primary fear of every QA manager: the failed audit. It’s almost always raised as a vague feeling rather than a specific citation, making it impossible to “fix.” It just hangs in the air, a dark cloud with the objector’s signature on it.

The Preservation of Narrative

The reason these late objections are so toxic is that they populate our institutional memory with a false narrative. When an auditor or a new manager looks back at the project files, they see a trail of warnings. They don’t see that those warnings were issued after the decisions were locked.
